In these economic times few family owned businesses have been able to survive the large corporate retail giants, but one right here in North Georgia, Gainesville Jewelry, is here to stay. Thirty years of making customers happy is a record that very few family owned business could brag about. In 1978 Phil Forrester opened a small pawnshop with only $8,500 he borrowed from his father, Red Forrester. Starting out with a small amount of money and a tiny 600 square foot shop on the West side of Gainesville on Old Atlanta Highway, Gainesville Jewelry has grown into a multi-million dollar jewelry store. What is the secret recipe? “Making customers happy and giving them the best possible value for their hard earned money is what motivates us” said Forrester. Today Gainesville Jewelry operates out of a 10,000 square foot building located in the heart of Gainesville on Jesse Jewell Parkway and employees over 20 fulltime salespeople, most of whom have worked at Gainesville Jewelry for many years.
